A racing magazine app, taken back under control.

The brief
Turf4You publishes a horse racing magazine for the Mauritian season, sold issue by issue inside an iOS and Android app. The app already existed. What it did not have was a business that held together underneath it.
Paid PDFs opened for anyone who found the link. Purchases were never checked on the server, so an unlock could not be trusted. Every weekly issue needed its own Apple product and a manual review, which meant editions arrived late or not at all. And the whole system ran on the previous developer's servers abroad, leaving the publisher without real control of his own product.
The approach
- Closed the leak first. A paid edition now opens only for the customer who bought it, through protected links that expire.
- Moved purchase verification to the server, so an edition unlocks only once Apple or Google has confirmed the payment.
- Replaced the per-issue Apple product with a single reusable one. An edition is on sale the moment it is uploaded, with no wait on store review, and readers are notified by push.
- Migrated hosting to a Mauritius server and carried existing customers across with their original passwords, so nobody was forced to reset.
- Brought the Android build back into compliance with Google Play Billing, which Google had flagged, and added an in-app contents list plus self-service device transfer.
- Built an admin where the publisher uploads an issue, manages readers, and watches daily, weekly and monthly sales in one place.
Outcomes
- Paid editions can no longer be downloaded for free.
- Every purchase is verified on the server before an edition unlocks.
- A new issue is on sale as soon as it is uploaded, and readers hear about it straight away.
- Both apps are live on the App Store and Google Play, hosted in Mauritius.
